Michael O Kane looks at the story of the Irish Defence Forces School of Music and Irish Army Bands past and present.
The central narrative is driven by the experiences, ambitions and personal thoughts of three new recruits as they begin their careers within the army band.
The programme hears from members past and present and features performances recorded more recently but also dating back to as early as the 1950s.
