Doctors on call is a six part exciting new magazine health show on RTÉ One.
Every week our team of doctors and professionals will bring you the ultimate guide to health and wellness. Coming from the Health hub, veteran broadcaster and former hospital doctor, Morning Ireland’s Dr Gavin Jennings anchors the programme, asking the questions that matter and exploring a whole new world of advanced medicine.
Dr. Terry is on a mission to make Ireland take charge of their own health when he tackles the big six. Dr. Ciara will give sound advice and practical tips in her mobile clinic, Dr. Johnny will check out the the latest innovations and technology in health care and Paul Walsh will put Ireland to the test, as he sets out a community challenge each week.
On tonight’s show, GP Dr. Ciara Kelly talks to author and Ambassador for the Marie Keating Foundation Yvonne Joye about her loss of identity when going through chemo, and the steps she took to overcome both the cancer and its treatment.
Dr. Terry talks about the second of his Big 6 – COPD – Chronic – Obstructive – Pulmonary – Disease. Almost 400,000 people in Ireland have it but only a quarter of that number, know they have it. Terry will talk about the one thing you should do to slash your risk.
Also on the show Dr. Johnny checks out the hospitals of the future and looks at an ID bracelet that will take your vital stats and send them on to your doctor before he even sees you. He’ll also check out the Da Vinci robot which will allow a surgeon to operate on you even if he’s on a different continent.
