RTÉ Two’s new Monday Comedy Night delivered a solid performance as homegrown shows Damo & Ivor and The Mario Rosenstock Show drew average audiences of 191,000 and 194,000 respectively last night.
In addition, the debut of Damo & Ivor was the top-watched show yesterday on RTÉ Two for Young Adults aged 15 to 34 and The Mario Rosenstock Show was the second most watched in this category.
#damoandivor trended on Twitter as viewers followed the story of twins Damo and Ivor (both characters played by Andy Quirke) who live very different lives. The six-part series also stars Nora Sheehan, Ruth McCabe and Rik Mayall. On the first episode in a new series of The Mario Rosenstock Show, the comedian performed some of his new characters including Davy Fitz, Marty Morrissey, Francis Brennan, Pat Kenny and Alan Shatter.
Damo & Ivor and The Mario Rosenstock Show are currently the two most popular programmes on the RTÉ Player.
RTÉ One achieved strong numbers last night also. The first episode in a new series of Secret Millionaire was watched by 382,000 viewers as businesswoman Margaret Farrelly donated money to different causes and charities.
The Mario Rosenstock continues on RTÉ Two next Monday at 9.30pm, followed by Damo & Ivor at 10pm. Secret Millionaire airs at 9.30pm on RTÉ One.
