Keelin Shanley presents a colourful half hour from Ireland’s largest gardening event and Aine Lawlor speaks to some of the designers and gardening architects about their creations.

BLOOM

Keelin Shanley presents Bloom 2013 from the Phoenix Park. A gardening, food and family festival now in its seventh year, visitors have the opportunity to view 28 spectacular show-gardens, and attend more than 25 cookery demonstrations by some of Ireland’s best loved chefs.

Aine Lawlor will be showcasing some of the gardens and talking to designers about their creations.

Ella McSweeney is set a cooking challenge by Neven Maguire and will sample some of the wide range of artisan food as well as craft beers at the festival.

Also featuring in the programme will be “Road to Bloom” a behind the scenes journey with gardener and designer Jane McCorkell – a previous gold winner at Bloom – who is taking on a medium sized garden. The film reveals the emotional rollercoaster that is involved in bringing a design to fruition. The programme also reveals a selection of the winners at this years’ festival.

Bloom 2013  RTE ONE at 8.30pm on Friday 31st May.

Bloom 2013 will be officially opened by The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, on Thursday May 30th and will run until Monday June 3rd.
