RTÉ’s The Hit seeks song-writers for new series

A new RTÉ series The Hit is seeking song-writers who are looking to kick-start their career and work with top industry professionals.

The show, which originated as part of RTÉ’s Format Farm project, will feature five-time Grammy-award winning producer Steve Lillywhite, who has shaped the sound of U2, The Killers, Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, Morrissey, The Pogues and Peter Gabriel.

In the series, hopefuls showcase their songs to two established music stars with the hope that they will pick their song. The stars battle against one another and are under pressure to select one song they can turn into a hit.

Steve’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable as he searches for the right songs (and songwriters) to send into the pitching rooms. If the star likes the song they may well choose it as their next hit single so Steve’s decisions are hugely important.

Steve says: “The Hit is a show that puts the song centre stage where it should be. As any artist will tell you: a great song can change a career overnight

Interested songwriters should complete the questionnaire available at the link below and send it together with a copy of their song lyrics to thehit@vipmg.tv along with an mp3 or mp4 recording of their song (or a link to where the song can be streamed/downloaded) before the closing date of Friday 24 May 2013.
