TODAY LAUNCHES NEW CULINARY COMPETITION – “IRELAND’S BEST HOME COOK”

The Today team has launched a new competition called “Ireland’s Best Home Cook” and are searching for a new tv cook to join their team for a month. So if your family think you’re a super cook and you’ve always fancied the idea of sharing your recipes with the nation on television then grab an apron, grab a video camera and show Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane what you’ve got!

The Today team would like you to send them a 3-4 minute video demo of you cooking up a storm in your own kitchen. Give us a flavour of why you think you have what it takes to be a television chef.

The winner’s prize includes a lesson from celebrity chef Kevin Dundon in Dunbrody Country House Hotel in Wexford where Kevin will share tips and expert knowledge on how to be a successful television chef. The winner will then be invited to do cookery demonstrations once a week on Today during the month of March.

Presenter Maura Derrane said, “We love having cookery slots on Today. Our audience always respond really positively to new recipes. We have a super line up of chefs including Martin Shanahan, Kevin Dundon, Lilly Higgins, Paul Flynn and Catherine Fulvio. I’m looking forward to seeing what new talent emerges from this competition and Dáithí and I are gladly available for any taste testing!”

Chef Kevin Dundon said “I am so excited to be part of the search for “Ireland’s Best Home Cook”, so get your entries in, and your knives sharpened to be in with a chance of joining me for a lesson at my cookery school at Dunbrody Country House Hotel, and your chance to exhibit your culinary skills on the Today show”.

The competition opens today Thursday January 24th and the closing deadline is 6pm on Thursday February 21st.  Further entry details can be found on the Today show website www.rte.ie/tv/today or the Today Facebook page.

The winner must be over 18 years of age and available to travel to the RTÉ studios in Cork, if necessary, during the month of March.
