Everybody knows the jeopardy of organising a surprise party. You want to organise an event for someone close to you because you know that they really deserve it. However, how will you manage to pull off the organisation and get them to the chosen location on time without them suspecting anything!
Well this is the task that PJ Gallagher has taken on with the friends, family and loved ones of a woman from Finglas in Dublin. Betty Maher has inspired many people in Finglas. She has been a volunteer for the Finglas Old Folks Group for over forty years. Betty has not only provided a ‘meals on wheels’ service but continually organizes many outings and activities for the elderly people of Finglas. Every week she celebrates somebody’s birthday in the club, but up until now she has never mentioned her own.
On the 14th of November 2012 Betty turned 80. This is the first time that she had told her colleagues from the club that she had a birthday coming up. Two days before her birthday she is swept away for 48 hours with her three best friends from the club for a hotel break. What she doesn’t know is while she is away PJ and her husband Gerry will be planning a Great Big Surprise Party for her. PJ organizes builders to renovate her garden, top musical entertainment and he has one or two big surprises up his sleeve for Betty.
