THE LATE LATE TOY SHOW MOST WATCHED PROGRAMME OF THE YEAR TO DATE

The Late Late Toy Show was the most watched show this year to date, with an average of 1,319,000* Irish people tuning in to watch the show. It also had a reach of over 1.9millon**, proving that the show has a magical draw for Irish viewers. The RTÉ Player has received over 110,000 stream requests to date for the show, 47,000 of which were live simulcasts.

The theme of this years show was loosely based on the movie Shrek and there was a spectacular opening act with a performance of the hit song from the film. The show had a record number of children from all over the country, with over 200 excited performers, demonstrators and all round rogues taking part in the show.

The toy testers ranged in age from 4 – 11 and the show featured a special toy section to cater for children living in apartments. Union J also made a special apperance, but it was the children again this year that proved to be the show stoppers.

The set was designed by Darragh Treacy, the award-winning RTÉ set-designer and it was six weeks in the planning, though the production team had been researching this year’s Toy Show since earlier this year.

A list of all the toys featured are available on the show’s website www.rte.ie/tv/latelate.

All the toys featured on the show were donated to various charities.
