This year marks 50years since the formation of the final line-up of the cultural phenomenon that was the Beatles. It is also Paul McCartney’s 70th birthday year. We celebrate with an evening of songs by the world’s greatest song-writing duo, linked by a script telling the Lennon McCartney story.

Joining the RTÉ Concert Orchestra under John Wilson are the remarkable young Joe Stilgoe, award-winning jazz singer Claire Martin – and of course to tell this story there had to be a true Liverpool favourite, actor and vocalist Mark McGann. Enjoy all your favourites, including Penny Lane, All You Need Is Love, Yesterday and Strawberry Fields Forever and more.

You Should Be Dancing! ATribute to the Bee Gees
RTÉ Concert Orchestra
Karl Harpur, Kyle Kennedy, Eoin McNamara,
Jennifer Healy, Joanna McGrath & Emma Farrell vocalists
Andy O’Callaghan conductor
28 September, 8pm
National Concert Hall

Brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, as the Bee Gees, were one of the best-selling music acts of all time. Join the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and guest vocalists for a feelgood evening of their disco classics!

The Bee Gees had been recording successfully since the late 1960s but it was the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack that proved the turning point of their career, bringing the disco scene into the mainstream and the Bee Gees to worldwide fame. Think back to those mirror balls, medallions and melodies of the 70s with titles synonymous with popular music of that unique time. Stayin’ Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Jive Talkin’, Night Fever, If I Can’t Have You, You Should be Dancing and lots more.

So get out those long-buried platforms, brush up the afro wigs and remember…YOU SHOULD BE DANCING!
