Hothouse Flowers guitarist Fiachna O’Braonain presents The John Creedon Show from 28 March to 15 April 2011.
Fiachna says:
“I’m delighted to be taking the mantle at The John Creedon Show for a few weeks. As a musician, it’s great for me to have the opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of music that we have to offer here in Ireland, as well as some international choice cuts. Listeners can expect to hear classics recordings that still feel as fresh as the day they were made along with brand new music.”
About Fiachna
Fiachna Ó Braonáin was born in Dublinand raised on a childhood diet of traditional Irish music, language and song. His teenage years brought him into the wild waters of blues guitar and rock ‘n roll.
Having had his mind blown by traditional music sessions in the Dún an Óir hotel in Kerry, in the Geantraí of the Cultúrlann and in the halls and passageways of Coláiste Eoin he witnessed Alexis Korner talking about Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and early Rolling Stones on the BBC. Something gave, and his mother’s Spanish guitar became the focus of his existence.
From then on, jumping between jigs, reels and Sean Nós to stripping paint off the walls with electric guitar solos became the order of the day… and the night. His musical exploits with Ireland’s Hothouse Flowers are well documented and his more recent adventures stepping from side to centre stage with his new band PreNup fulfil many lifelong urges.. urges to grow and renew, to write and rewrite, to sing and to play.. to create!
