DO THE RIGHT THING Thursday 4 November RTÉ TWO **Final Episode**
Every night thousands of people sleep rough in Ireland. The challenge for our four volunteer finalists – Mike Cole from Mullingar, Co Westmeath; Aisling Moran from Glanmire, Cork; Johnny Finnegan Jr from Navan, Co Meath; and Galway City’s Carol Leonard – is to join them for 24 hours and document their experiences through a video diary. Being homeless is more than being without a roof over your head, it’s about a lack of security, lack of belonging, lack of privacy and lack of safety. The completed video diaries will then be included on the Simon Community’s webpage.
Throughout the series, the aspiring volunteers’ skills have been tested on a number of projects at home and abroad, including in Belarus, Albania and Africa.
Which guy and girl will be declared the ‘ultimate volunteers’ and win the prize – a year’s volunteering across three continents, all expenses paid.
