CORK’S CAPPABUE NATIONAL SCHOOL TO PERFORM ON RTÉ RADIO

Tune into RTÉ Junior this Thursday 1 April at 3pm as Cappabue National School, near Bantry, perform a special play called A Chocolate of Knowledge on RTÉ Junior, RTÉ’s new digital radio station for children.

Cappabue National School’s Easter performance follows two very successful Christmas plays recorded for the station in 2009, all of which were wrote by the school’s drama teacher Victor Hayes.

RTÉ Junior scheduler Martina McGlynn commented: “We’re thrilled to have another play from the talented Victor Hayes and children in Cappabue, we’re really excited to have them back on the RTÉ airwaves. It won’t disappoint – the play is really whacky and we can guarantee you won’t hear anything else like it over the Easter period!”

The story follows the Easter Bunny as he trains in his apprentice. When he catches the most special of Easter Eggs in the Chocolate River, he warns his young student not to touch it, but the little bunny forgets himself and actually tastes the magic egg. Disaster follows and the little bunny transforms into a raving chocoholic, eating so much chocolate that there is a worldwide shortage in the run-up to Easter. News reporters from around the world are shocked at the sight of a 60-foot chocolate rabbit clinging onto the top of New York’s Empire State Building, swatting away fighter-planes. What is to become of the crazed bunny and what will the world do without chocolate for Easter?

Tune into A Chocolate of Knowledge on RTÉ Junior at 3pm on Thursday 1 April. Repeated at 12 midday on Saturday 3 April, at 10am on Sunday 4 April and 7pm on Monday 5 April.

Tune into RTÉ Junior at www.rte.ie/junior, Chorus NTL channel: 942 and on Digital Radio in the extended Dublin area, Cork and Limerick.
