EURO 2008 – SAT 21st JUNE AT 7.40PM ON RTÉ TWO

Bill O’Herlihy is joined by Eamon Dunphy, and John Giles for live coverage of the third quarter final as the winner of Group C takes on the runner up in Group D. George Hamilton and Ray Houghton provide the commentary as the match kicks of at 7.45pm in Basel.

 

THE SUNDAY GAME LIVE – SUN 22nd JUNE AT 3.30PM ON RTÉ TWO

Michael Lyster is joined by Cyril Farrell and Tomas Mulcahy live from Semple Stadium in Thurles as Clare take on Waterford in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship semi-final. The match throws in at 4.00pm with commentary by Ger Canning and Anthony Daly.

The final Euro 2008 Championship quarter-final will see the winner of Group D take on the runner up in Group C. Bill O’Herlihy will be joined by Eamon Dunphy, John Giles and Liam Brady, for live coverage as the match kicks off at 7.45pm live from Vienna. Commentary by Darragh Maloney and Trevor Steven.

Pat Spillane with Joanne Cantwell will be joined by a panel for reviews and analysis of the weekend’s GAA action including highlights from Mayo v Sligo at McHale Park. Michael Duignan and Peter Finnerty will examine the day’s hurling action while Anthony Tohill, Kevin McStay and Coman Goggins will offer their expert opinions on the provincial football championships.

Con Murphy will be joined by Roddy Collins, Richard Sadlier and Dundee United’s Sean Dillon for the hour-long dedicated Irish soccer programme featuring highlights from the FAI eircom League of Ireland matches including Cork City v Cobh Ramblers, Drogheda United v Derry City, St. Patrick’s Athletic v Bray Wanderers, Finn Harps v Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers v Galway United and Sligo Rovers v UCD. The programme will also be profiling up-and-coming players in the eircom League beginning with Seamus Colman of Sligo Rovers.

 

GOLD: THE RONNIE DELANY STORY – MON 23rd JUNE AT 7.30PM ON RTÉ TWO

Another chance to watch this special OB Sport programme marking the 50th anniversary of Ronnie Delany’s Olympic Gold medal win on December 1st 1956 in Melbourne, Australia.
The programme contains rare footage of the event itself and contributions from Olympic gold medallists Ronnie Delany and Michael Carruth and Olympic silver medallist John Treacy. There are also interviews with a number of surviving Olympians from the 1956 team, who won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, making them the most successful Irish Olympic team of all time and which included Maeve Kyle, the first Irish woman ever to compete in an Olympics. The programme also has an interview with Bill Cosby, one of the world’s top entertainers, who tells the story of the day he beat Ronnie Delany!

 

IRISH SENIORS OPEN HIGHLIGHTS – TUES 24th JUNE AT 11.50PM ON RTÉ TWO

Highlights from this year’s AIB Irish Senior Golf Open which takes place at the stunning Old Links Course at Ballyliffin Golf Club, in Co. Donegal. Dual Ryder Cup winner Costantino Rocca of Italy has set his sights on a successful title defence after claiming his maiden Seniors Tour victory.
