RTÉ ARTS: The imagination, energy and talent of Irish dance artists and film makers are once again showcased in four short films (full deta

 

Following the success of this initiative in 2006 The Arts Council and RTÉ have collaborated again to bring television viewers another four short dance films courtesy of the joint initiative RTÉ Dance On The Box.  These will be premiered on RTÉ Two as part of the Dublin Dance Festival, starting on Monday 28 April, and then screened in the open air in Dublin’s Meeting House Square.

The four films produced through RTÉ Dance On The Box for the last Dance Festival in 2006 were watched by over half a million viewers and went on to over thirty dance and film festivals around the world.

RTÉ Dance On The Box brings the energy and imagination of contemporary Irish dance artists and film-makers to television viewers and allows a national audience to take part in the Dublin Dance Festival.

Swing Talking – Tuesday 29th April 2008, 11.25 p.m.

Swing Talking is a unique five minute film made by the Swing dancers of Ireland for RTE’s. Aside from the cast on screen, the director, producer and choreographer are swing dancers themselves, as well as many other members of the technical crew.

With just a week to prepare for the shoot, the community of Swing dancers all teamed up, and helped create this short passionate burst of spontaneous Swing! The word “cool” is thrown around but this dance really deserves this adjective!

 This is a dance where men can be…well…men, and women get to flirt quite a bit! It’s all built around the concept that men lead, and women follow, but there’as always a chance to break the rules
