Episode 3: Jenny Lindfors, Juno Falls, The Answer and Seasick Steve.

Other Voices features exclusive recorded performances and interviews by more than 30 Irish and international artists. The series was recorded over two weekends in early December 2007 in the unique setting of St James’ Church Dingle, Co Kerry, and on the streets, in pubs, cafes, shops, barber shops, laundrettes and caravans of this south-westerly town. Programmes one to six will each feature performances and interviews from five artists, then programme seven will be a compilation of Other Voices highlights as selected by viewers through the series website www.rte.ie/tv/othervoices.

Local and international artists made the journey south to Kerry to add their voices this year, including legendary Kinks frontman Ray Davies, Ryan Adams, David Gray, Canadian singer songwriter and record producer extraordinaire Daniel Lanois, psychedelic Welsh rockers Super Furry Animals, Cathy Davey, Sinead O’Connor, American bluesman Seasick Steve, Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova, The Charlatans, Paddy Casey, The Coronas, Irish electro-punk act Fight Like Apes and many others.

RTÉ 2FM’s Jenny Huston also joins the cast of Other Voices this year as a roving presenter alongside anchor presenter and master of ceremonies John Kelly. Best known as the presenter of RTÉ 2fm’s flagship rock shows, The Waiting Room and The Annex, Huston has been associated with quality new music for many years. As well as chatting with David Gray, Candie Payne, Fight Like Apes, The Answer and Cathy Davey, Jenny will present interviews and performances with David Geraghty, Adrian Crowley, Halfset, Dry County, Jenny Lindfors and Mick Flannery – artists who performed at a closed location in Dingle as part of a new element in this year’s Other Voices recordings.

The Other Voices experience is like no other: the diversity of the gathered musicians, folksters hanging with rockers, indie kids jamming with roots legends, the laid back charms of a small seaside town, a weeklong session beneath the creaking eves of St James’ Church. With just 70 lucky people in the audience, each performance is like a private show. The relaxed vibe of Dingle translates to performances and interviews alike and Other Voices captures the true essence and character of each of its guests, away from glaring TV studios and deafening thousand seater auditoriums.

The sixth series of Other Voices was directed by acclaimed Irish filmmaker and artist Maurice Linnane.
