RTÉ 2FM LIVE WITH Manu Chao live at 104
Manu Chao is French born of Spanish parents and fronted mega French band Mano Negra until their demise in 1995. His songs Bongo Bong and Je ne t’aime plus, which appear back-to-back on Clandestino, a collection of his solo songs. These were covered by British singers Robbie Williams and Lily Allen, who recorded them as a single track Bongo Bong and Je Ne T’Aime Plus, and released it as a single in selected countries including Mexico and the Czech Republic. Bongo Bong has also been remixed or sampled by other artists resulting in a number of popular underground dance hits, notably the anti-war anthem President of the Bongos by the Pakistani DJ and peace activist Disorientalist.
He also produced Senegalese singers, Amadou and Mariam’s 2004 album Dimanche à Bamako (Sunday in Bamako).
Although he is one of the biggest live draws in Europe and has sold millions of records, this show, which was specially recorded in Radio France’s Studio 104, is the first live recording he has allowed in many years.
La Radiolina released in September last confirmed his position as the leading world music star in Europe.
Manu Chao live at 104, was recorded by Radio France Inter on 29 September, 2007 for the Eurosonic Partnership of the EBU.

CHRISTIAN SMITH LIVE AT VEGA LONDRINA, BRAZIL
Born in Stockholm, the DJ/producer spent much of his youth in Frankfurt, Germany.
After moving to New York in 1989, Christian discovered that, running parallel to its high profile house community, the city that never sleeps also had a thriving techno scene. All the early techno clubs had started in New York, with Joey Beltram at The Limelight and soon afterwards Jeff Mills.
Christian set up the Tronic label and despite releasing three well-received records, put the label on hold as he was still a full time university student in Washington. By 1997 he felt so inspired by DJing and the music this prompted him to get working seriously with his label TRONIC.
On completing his studies, Christian started to go to New York more frequently to collaborate with John Selway. Smith’s own 1997 release, Goldrush the fourth release on Tronic also caused a serious reaction; this was the point when everything took off. Tronic became a popular label and Goldrush got licensed all over the place.
While Smith’s releases ensured, his bookings continued to soar, the Swedish DJ/producer identifies that the release of his first major mix CD, Tronic Treatment, as another turning point in his career. Weighing in at twenty eight tracks and recorded live in Australia on three decks the smooth mix moves from funky house through to dubby, rolling tech-house into pulsating techno. In fact as things get faster his selection becomes more varied, with the brooding electro of Umeks Zeta Reticula, the dark bass powered tones of Adam Beyers Remainings and Deetrons A1 before ending with the deep Detroit stylings of James Ruskin’s mix of Metier. Christian was most inspired by Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier.
Recorded on 22 September 2007 at Vega, Londrina, Brazil
