Since our last series, a remarkable and never to be repeated concert called OMOS was held before a more than capacity audience in Vicar Street in Dublin in memory of the late Meath and Donegal singer and musician Mícheál O Domhnaill. Among the many highlights of the evening was a reunion of surviving members of the Bothy Band, of which Mícheál O Domhnaill was a key member, with a symbolically empty chair on stage.
Present were Kevin Burke, Paddy Keenan, Donal Lunny, Matt Molloy, and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, with Paddy Glackin from an early incarnation of the group.
In September 1976 the Bothy Band recorded two programmes for RTÉ in the Embankment cabaret rooms in Tallaght, Co. Dublin. We presented one of these long ago in an early series, but not the other one, which now forms our programme tonight.
