DAN survives his operation and receives the all-clear to resume surgery. Just as things seem back to normal, he first discovers that CATHY’S pregnant and then gets the news that she kept JULIA’S share-offer to herself.
A blazing row erupts over CATHY’S need to control all aspects of both their lives and, made to feel sidelined and redundant, DAN storms out of the Clinic unsure of where he’s going or what he’s doing.
He ends up in a bar and gets talking to a girl called EMER whom he brings back to his flat where they begin to have sex. Only DAN stops, unsure what of he’s doing.
PATRICK sees EMER leave, a scuffle ensues and DAN realises with the help of PATRICK what a fool he is – God knows why, but CATHY loves him. DAN makes it to her side just in time for her baby-scan and the pair reconcile, as CATHY promises to let him into her life.
DAISY’S new boyfriend ADAM turns out to be a well-liked former intern of JULIA’S while CARA wonders what DAISY’S flatmate CONOR really makes of ADAM being around all the time?
CLODAGH’S misdiagnosis of a patient sees her every move being monitored by CATHY, much to CLODAGH’S disgust.
CARA and ÁINE become closer after CARA offers to attend a management meeting so ÁINE can collect TOMMY. Little does ÁINE realize that CARA herself takes the praise for ÁINE identifying a fall in GMS-numbers.
LIAM helps save an injured cat and returns from a disastrous date with a new, furry addition to the family in the now-recuperated “MR. FELIX”. He and his new babysitter, CARA then enjoy a few beers together.
All set to perform surgery again, and keen to reassume his professional mantle after a year’s hiatus, DAN suddenly freezes with fear and passes the scalpel on to a colleague.
Will Dan ever be able to operate again at full capacity: either as a player or a surgeon?
