World First for RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta

Géill Slí with Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí, exclusively hosted KÍLA and their new album ‘Gamblers’ Ballet’ on 9 August 2007.

The broadcast, between 9pm–11pm, included interviews with the members of KÍLA, and fans of the band from all over the world can hear this exclusive play on the internet at www.rte.iernag

According to Ronan Mac Aodha Bhuí:

“I am delighted that Géill Slí will play host to the first broadcast of Gamblers’ Ballet. KÍLA are a truly unique band, producing their own very distinctive sound. They are one of Ireland’s best bands. KÍLA have been very loyal to RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and An Ciorcal Craiceáilte for many years. They will certainly be part of the music scene, not just nationally, but internationally also, for a long time to come”.

Gamblers’ Ballet is a collection of fast and lively songs and tunes, mixing the different sounds of the uilleann pipes, fiddle and bodhrán with that of the bass and guitar.

KÍLA recently played at the Midlands Festial, Glastonbury Festival and the Heineken Green Energy Festival. This summer will also see KÍLA perform at the Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures and Electric Picnic.

Gamblers’ Ballet confirms KÍLA as one of Ireland’s most unique bands, and their music has continued to receive critical acclaim in recent times.

No less a musician than Bono called KÍLA ‘extraordinary’, and their popularity continues to grow and grow.
