Scope ends its series in style, with our biggest and most ridiculous experiment yet: can you keep water in a bucket, while standing on the wing of an aeroplane that’s flying upside-down?

OK, so it’s not a common question to ask, but roll with it – because the results are spectacular!

While presenters Danann Breathnach and Kathriona Devereux battle it out to see which of them gets to stay on solid ground, Danann checks out indoor sky diving (yes, you read that right), and Kathriona heads to Cork to find out what all this is about – Gravity.

Also, Matt Willis nominates (and immediately breaks) his all-time favourite invention for Scope’s Hall of Fame, we’ve the acoustic researchers in Belfast who are inventing new aerials to make your mobile phone calls clearer, and comedian Jarlath Regan is back with the grand finale of Science Idol. In front of a truly massive audience, which young scientist is going to be the face of the future? You’ll only find out if you watch.

That’s Scope, the science show that knows the difference between ‘loopy’ and ‘loop-the-loop’, but sometimes pretends otherwise.

Note to editors:

In this programme, Scope’s presenter Kathriona Devereux performs a physics experiment while standing on the wing of a vintage biplane. This is absolutely as ridiculous as it sounds, and requires even more bravery than you’d expect.
