RTÉ Sport today (Thursday 11 January) announced that Graeme Souness will be joining RTÉ Television’s unrivalled team of soccer panellists in 2007. The former Scotland and Liverpool legend was a key fixture in RTÉ Television’s extensive World Cup coverage this summer and became a firm favourite with his fellow panellists and the public alike.
Graeme will further strengthen RTÉ Television’s legendary soccer panellists, which includes John Giles, Eamon Dunphy, Liam Brady, Ray Houghton and Trevor Steven. This team, alongside anchors Bill O’Herlihy, Darragh Maloney, Peter Collins and Con Murphy, will continue to deliver RTÉ Television’s comprehensive coverage of The Premiership, UEFA Champions League and Republic of Ireland International soccer matches.
Graeme’s punditry duties will kick-off this Saturday, 13 January at 7.30pm on RTÉ Two, as he joins Liam Brady and Darragh Maloney for in-depth analysis and review of all of the day’s Premiership action.
RTÉ Television’s upcoming comprehensive soccer coverage includes:
Six live Republic of Ireland International matches confirm to date including the highly anticipated Euro 2008 Qualifying home games at Croke Park.
Four live Champions League matches from round two as well as comprehensive highlights of all the first and second leg games.
Eight live Premiership matches and Premiership highlights of all the key fixtures.
Ten live Eircom League games kicking off with the new season in March as well as live FAI Cup semi finals and final matches.
RTÉ Television’s free-to-air soccer coverage will be even more comprehensive this year as RTÉ increases its already extensive Premiership coverage with over 40 programmes in the 2007/2008 season.
Glen Killane, RTÉ Group Head of Sport, said: “We are delighted that Graeme is rejoining our unrivalled team of soccer analysts. RTÉ Sport is constantly striving to ensure that we deliver the best quality sports coverage to the public and Graeme’s vast soccer experience and punditry credentials, which proved so popular during the World Cup, will be a great addition.”
