It’s Fire Safety Week all this week on The Afternoon Show and to help spread the word on fire prevention Blathnaid and Sheana will be giving away 2,500 smoke alarms to viewers.
Most fires happen at night when people are asleep. S moke, not heat or flames, causes the majority of fire deaths in Ireland and the smoke given off by some furnishing materials can kill very quickly. Also, smoke does not wake people, it actually puts them into a deeper sleep.
Afternoon Show viewers can turn smoke’s lethal danger into a lifesaver by calling the show and getting their free smoke alarm.
The National Safety Council recommend and encourage all viewers to install smoke alarms in their homes today. The Afternoon Show team will tell you what kind of smoke alarms to install, the pitfalls to avoid and suggest tips for their effective use.
