FINAL WORDS: BRIAN KERR’S WORLD CUP STORY

A review of Ireland’s World Cup qualification campaign, with unique insights from Brian Kerr in his first interview since losing the job of Republic of Ireland Manager.

Filmed over 18 months, the programme charts Ireland’s progress through the World Cup qualifiers with Brian Kerr taking a look back at the drama on and off the pitch and reflecting on his tenure in one of Ireland’s most high profile jobs.

He speaks of his joy at being appointed to the job, about bringing Roy Keane back into the fold and the strain of the media spotlight as the qualifiers progressed.  Brian also talks about his dealings with the FAI and the disappointment he felt losing his dream job.

The matches are revisited and the campaign analysed by journalists Liam Mackey, Emmet Malone and broadcaster Eamonn Dunphy, with Brian providing an insight into the view from the sideline as the matches played out and the pressure intensified.

The documentary by Dave Berry and Nathan Nugent will be broadcast on December 20th at 10.15pm on RTÉ One.
