Julie Parson’s latest thriller centres on frail Lydia Beauchamp who lives in a rambling old house near Skibereen. Her reclusive existence is interrupted when a stranger arrives – a young man called Adam who becomes one of Lydia’s most welcome contacts with the outside world. Lydia sets her new confidante a challenge. Adam must travel to Dublin to find her estranged daughter, a task that he accepts, but one tainted by an air of menace.
Film: ‘Sophie Scholl’ at the IFI Eustace Street Dublin
Commemorating the courageous life of a young woman Sophie Scholl who was a member of the ‘White Rose’ anti-nazi party in Germany. Taking advantage of new-found transcripts of Scholl’s interrogation by Gestapo officer Robert Mohr the movie follows the last six days of Sophie’s brief life: from her risky decision to distribute resistance leaflets in the atrium of Munich University, to her arrest and extended interview with chain-smoking villain Mohr (Gerald Alexander Held) to the grotesque show trial and the execution that swiftly followed.

These photographs from Lagos, Johannesburg, Lusaka and Addis Ababa present a typical Seawright glimpse into the unplanned settlements on the periphery of these cities. Settlements that are cities in their own right but unplanned and chaotic, often dwarfing the metropolis that spawned them.
Visual Art: Sean Hillen @ The LAB arts centre Foley Street Dublin
The inaugural exhibition at Dublin City Councils’ new venue the LAB Arts Centre on Foley Street, Dublin 1 will showcase the work of much celebrated Newry born Artist Seán Hillen. The show comprises some 40 photomontages and prints from the period of the Troubles. This is the first time that this body of work has been exhibited in Dublin since 1993. It may also be the last opportunity to see them here, as most of the works are in the process of being acquired by The Imperial War Museum in London
Theatre: Wrecks by Neil LaBute
American actor Ed Harris will make his European stage debut in the world premiere production of Wrecks by Neil LaBute, which opens at the Everyman Palace Theatre, Cork, Ireland
Performance: HULK
HULK is Dublin artist Thomas Haugh, who uses a combination of organic and electronic processed sound with live instrumentation to produce atmospheric and expansive music. HULK performs “We Ran” from the debut album (published by Osaka Records) SILVER THREAD OF GHOSTS.
