THE MENTOR
Thursday 29th September at 10.15pm on RTÉ One
Programme 4 of 8

The Mentor is an eight part series featuring a variety of Irish businesses and offering them the chance to make it big in the cut-throat world of corporate Ireland.  The Mentors, Dr. Jeanne Bolger and Jay Bourke offer them unprecedented access to the top table of Irish business and devise a strategy to move their company forward.

The fourth business facing the challenge to change is Broadway Bagels.  Set up in 2002 Broadway Bagels is the first and only dedicated bagel factory in Ireland – the company owned and operated by Native New-Yorker Rosie Sheehan and her husband Des.   Three years on having built up their wholesale business, supplying seven national distributors in the food services sector, Rosie and Des have expanded their business to provide frozen bagels to the retail sector.  They have been successful in supplying their product to some retail outlets including Superquinn but they are keen to break into some of the other big players in the supermarket sector. They are currently looking at their production processes and trying to free up labour and speed up production. They anticipate they will need extra storage and production space to help achieve their growth.

Rosie and Des meet with The Mentors and lay out their current problems and ambitions for the future.  They need to develop a marketing strategy, consider the realities of expansion and find a successful balance between their business and family time with their three young boys.

The Mentor is Produced for RTÉ by Tyrone Productions in association with Vodafone.
