MOVIES AND MUSICALS J.J. Abrams is the one who was chosen to direct the much anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On his birthday today, Aedín includes music from his films Super 8, Mission Impossible 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness all scored by Michael Giacchino. OPERA NIGHT Bernard Clarke continues his visit to Vienna State Opera with a performance tonight of Vincenzo Bellini's I Puritani. This production stars John Tessier, Olga Peretyatko, Carlos Alvarez, Jongmin Park, Sorin Coliban, Carlos Osuna and Ilseyar Khayrullova. Marco Armiliato conducts the Vienna State Opera Chorus and Orchestra. RTÉ lyric fm, Saturday 27th June, 7.00pm

CLASSICAL KIDS Edward Elgar loved to compose as a child and he even wrote music for a play that he performed with his brothers and sisters. Years later, when he was a successful composer, he arranged it for an orchestra calling it his Wand of Youth Suite, and we'll hear it on Sunday. Plus music played on the tuba including the story of Tubby the Tuba. RTÉ lyric fm, Sunday 28th June, 7.00am

THE BLUE OF THE NIGHT WITH CARL CORCORAN Czech composer Leoš Janácek was inspired by Moravian and other Slavic folk music. This week we honour his birthdate by featuring an album in which Czech singer Iva Bittova and the Skampa Quartet present a personal interpretation of Janacek's collection of Moravian Folk Poetry in Songs. Masterful accompaniment to Bittova's stunning vocals every night this week. RTÉ lyric fm, Tuesday 30th June, 10.00am
