Comedy Showhouse Hour returns to RTÉ Radio 1 this Saturday 27th August at 6pm.

See below for specific details of this week’s programmes.

This, the second season of the series, will feature 12 new half-hour radio comedies broadcast across the course of six weeks featuring live performances from the biggest names in Irish comedy including: Al Porter, The Nualas, Seán Hughes, Andrew Maxwell, Deirdre O’Kane, Karl Spain, Maxine Jones, Gearóid Farrelly, Amy Huberman, Aindrias De Staic, Foil Arms & Hog, Fiona Looney and Colm O’Regan.

The series was recorded at the Project Arts Centre earlier in 2016 in front of a live audience, recorded exclusively for RTÉ Radio 1. It has been produced in association with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and comedy website grintageireland.com.

Across the six weeks, the 6-6.30pm slot will feature Don’t Quote Me! – A panel show in which Perrier award-winning comic, former BBC TV’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks team captain, and all round Irish comedy legend Sean Hughes presides over two teams, headed up by Andrew Maxwell and Fiona Looney, explores and dissects quotes – sometimes controversial, often offensive – across a wide range of themes, personalities and subjects designed to spark witty commentary, comic discussion and often ridiculous debate.

The second half hour slot, 6.30-7pm, will feature a revolving carousel of programmes designed to challenge the mind and stimulate the funny bone.

The slot will include programmes featuring The Nualas, Foil, Arms & Hog, Alison Spittle, Deirdre O’Kane, Amy Huberman, Rebecca O’Flanagan, Fiona Looney, Gearóid Farrelly, Kathleen O’Rourke, Maxine Jones, Aindrias de Staic, Sue Collins and Colm Reid.
