Dancing with the Stars to take centre stage on RTÉ One

RTÉ One is delighted to announce that the world-renowned entertainment format Dancing with the Stars is to air in the New Year. Dancing with the Stars, the international version of the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing, has been licensed to over 50 countries including South Africa, India, New Zealand, Italy, USA and Columbia.

Dancing with the Stars will see 11 well-known celebrities paired with professional ballroom dancers, who will compete each week by performing one or more choreographed routines.    The new format will be produced by Shinawil for RTÉ and will air in early 2017.

Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller, RTÉ One and RTÉ2 commented “We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing with the Stars to RTÉ One. The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences wherever it has aired and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts. Family entertainment shows are a cornerstone of what RTÉ One is all about.

Sam Tewungwa, Commercial Director, TV Sales UK and Ireland at BBC Worldwide added, “We’re thrilled that RTÉ will be airing Dancing with the Stars, as this format is loved all across the world. We continue to get such great feedback from every country where it airs, so we can’t wait to see how the Irish audience respond to it.”
