VOX NOSTRA WITH VLAD SMISHKEWYCH

John Field (1) Image Name: John Field (1)

Here’s a Dublin success story for you: John Field was born in the Fair City back in 1782 and he quickly rose to prominence as a keyboardist after a public debut at age nine.  Vlad looks at this Irish composer who bridged the late Classical and early Romantic eras and features several of his vocal as well as his piano works performed on instruments Field would have been familiar with when his family moved to England in the late 1700s.  Viol works by lesser-known Flemish composer Leonora Duarte and a double-header death anniversary of early music idols JS Bach and Vivaldi make for an intriguing mix on this Sunday’s Vox Nostra with Vlad Smishkewych.
