MARTY IN THE MORNING

Marty Whelan (1) Image Name: Marty Whelan (1)

Marty in the Morning is off to Italy, the home of opera, and this year will experience two festivals; the Verona Opera Festival for a production of Verdi’s La Traviata and the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago for Madame Butterfly.

This is the 94th festival at the Arena di Verona where the magic that has been repeated since 1913, continues to attract international audiences thanks to the alchemy of music, scenery and costumes presented in a truly unique setting.

Marty Whelan will meet the stars, go behind the scenes at the atmospheric amphitheatre of the open air Arena di Verona – a place Marty describes as ‘the closest thing to musical heaven on Earth’. He’ll also enjoy the charms of Torre del Lago; visit the home of Puccini and discover more about the man and his music. Broadcasting from the RAI studios in Florence there’ll also be a little time to enjoy the Renaissance delights of the city and even take a little stroll across the Ponte Vecchio!
