RTÉjr announces its new summer schedule as TV channel’s audience share increases 28% year-on-year

 Alongside the new season programming, RTÉjr announced an increase of 28% in the share of Kids 4-7 watching the channel Jan-May 2016 compared to the same period last year, each month from Jan to May has outperformed the same month one year ago.

May 2016 also saw over 1 million page impressions on the RTÉjr app as well as 146,779 streams for all RTÉ Young Peoples content (TRTÉ, RTÉjr, Two Tube) across RTÉ Player and the RTÉjr app. The RTÉjr app has had over 40,000 app downloads to date across iOS and Android.

Sheila de Courcy, Channel Controller RTÉjr, commented “We’re passionate about creating original Irish programming and bringing the best international series to youngsters in a commercial free environment, so it’s great to see RTÉjr’s figures increase across television and online. This summer we have a fantastic line-up of new shows for children to enjoy, whatever the weather”

This summer viewers will get a chance to clown around with children from The Gerbola Circus in the documentary series Circus World. Yvette Poufong returns once more in search of the perfect pet and meets all creatures great and small from diabetic dogs to donkeys in I Want a Pet. Viewers are invited to sing in to the summer with a new series Do, Re, Mi where Emma O’Driscoll meets some young music fans and teaches them a thing or two about music.

Plus find out lots of fun facts in the new series of The Why Guy, follow the adventures of four heroes, Xuli, Kyan, Lars and Foz, as they travel the world with their teacher, mentor and friend, Ubercorn in Go Jetters the popular 3D animation, join Old Jack and Sally as they explore rockpools and discover the adventures of sea creatures in Old Jack’s Boat: Rockpool Tales.

Also this summer RTÉjr are getting in to the sporting spirit as Reuben and friends will be going for gold by hosting a mini Olympics of their own.
