I’ve Got Your Back
A family quiz show, RTÉ 2
Thursday, 2nd June, 5pm
Hosted by Simon Delaney
“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!
Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.
At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.
At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….
Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.
So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.
As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?
At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.
Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.
Series 1, episode 8
In the eighth show of the series 10 year old Lilia Smyth from Bishopstown, Co. Cork returns to the show to continue on from the previous week. She’s made it past the first 2 rounds last time out, but can she finish the job tonight?
Lilia goes to Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh, Cailíní in Bishopstown. Lilia is a bit of a rocker, and her favourite band is ACDC. She also enjoys singing, gymnastics and having a nose around on YouTube. Maybe she’s even spotted Noah’s channel?
With her on stage will be her team:
Her dad Darren. He works as the head of retail at Shannon Airport. So maybe he’d have a good knowledge of world cities and geography is any of those questions come up.
Also with her is mum, Jennifer. She works of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and is heavily involved in all of their major campaigns and events.
Also on her team is her 13 year old cousin Ava Hickey. She is big into musicals and has performed in “Annie”, “The Witches” and most recently “Teens And Thespians” in the Cork Arts Theatre. Any questions on drama and theatre would suit her down to the ground.
Finally, on her team is another cousin, Stephen Hickey, aged 11. He’s soccer mad and plays for Wilton Utd. In the Cork School Boy’s League. He supports Liverpool and has even been to Anfield.
Also hoping to walk away with the top prize is 11 year old Bobby Connolly from Dalkey, Co. Dublin. Bobby goes to Harold Boy’s NS in Dalkey and prides himself on being able to do the Rubik’s Cube in under a minute. He also plays guitar and soccer.
With him is his family:
His dad, Jim. Jim, who works in finance, is an avid climber and he has made it to the summit of Kilimanjaro. He’s now planning to climb Everest.
Also on the team are Bobby’s two sisters, Alex (aged 18) and Shauna (aged 14). Alex is studying for her Leaving Cert and her biggest passion is art. Shauna is just finishing 2nd Year and when not sleeping in, she can be found bossing it on the hockey pitch!
Also on Bobby’s team is his great aunt Mags. She hasn’t had the best of times lately. A few weeks after breaking her foot, she slipped and broke her hip. This was followed by another trip and she broke her arm! But she’s still there to back up her grand-nephew!
Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?
