I’ve Got Your Back

A family quiz show, RTÉ2, Wednesday 11th May, 5pm

Hosted by Simon Delaney

“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!

Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.

At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.

At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….

Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.

So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.

As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?

At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.

Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.

Episode 6:

In the sixth show of the series 12 year old Noah Scolard from Sandymount in Dublin will be hoping to leave the show with the top prize.

Noah goes to Star Of The Sea BNS in Sandymount and is in 6th class. He loves singing, dancing and playing the piano. He even has his own Youtube channel where you can see him do all of those! He is currently preparing for his Grade 8 Royal Irish Academy of Music piano exam.

With him on the show is his team:

His dad Ciarán, who reckons he can handle any general knowledge questions and questions on maths.

His friend, Aaron van den Akker. Aaron will be hoping to field any sport questions that come his way. He’s an enthusiastic rugby player, Gaelic footballer and hurler, and has recently taken up boxing. His trainer is none other than Olympic gold medallist Michael Carruth.

Also joining Noah is his friend JP Tiernan. JP is 12 years old and his strong subjects are sport, maths and books. He also plays Gaelic football and is a member of Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club in Dublin.

The fourth member of the team is JP’s mum, Clodagh. She is strong on history and loves historical dramas. She’s still trying to come to terms with the ending of Downton Abbey!

Also hoping to climb up the prize ladder in the show is 10 year old Jessica Aprile from Deansgrange in Dublin. Jessica goes to Hollypark GNS in Foxrock and loves doing gymnastics, ballet and hip hop dancing. She can never sit still and can been seen doing cartwheels and other dance moves wherever she goes, whether that’s at the supermarket with her mum or out and about with her friends.

In her team are:

Her mum, Luisa. Luisa is from Italy and she runs a local fish and chips shop in Deansgrange. She’s hoping for questions on food and Italy!

Her sister, Alessia, who is aged 13. Both girls are very close and when they were younger, they tried to set up their own chicken farm. They would take eggs out of the fridge, wrap them is tissues and wait for them to hatch. The business never got off the ground….

Her godmother, Anna Borza. Anna is the cousin of Jessica’s mum and is a secondary school teacher at St. Joseph’s College in Lucan.  She teaches French and Italian. She’s hoping to take any questions on languages and history.

Last but not least is her cousin Mirko Medori, aged 11. Mirko prefers Italian football to the Premier League and his favourite team is A.C. Roma. His strongest subject is Irish history, especially the Vikings, the famine and the Easter Rising.

Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?

“I’ve Got Your Back”, Wednesday, 11th May at 5pm on RTÉ 2.
