I’ve Got Your Back

A family quiz show, RTÉ 2

Thursday, 5th May, 5pm

Hosted by Simon Delaney

“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!

Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.

At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.

At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….

Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.

So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.

As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?

At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.

Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.

In the fifth show of the series 10 year old Jummy Idowu from Sandyford in Dublin will be hoping to bag the top prize.

Jummy goes to Queen Of Angels NS in Sandyford, and she’ll be relying on her team to answer the questions on the show. On stage with her are:

Her parents Victoria and Olapeju Idowu, originally from Nigeria. Victoria works as a sales assistant in a department store, while Olapeju works as an engineer. Between them, they reckon that they’ve got the topics of food, sport, literature and music covered, should any of those types of questions come up.

Her sister Jennifer, who is 15 years old. Jennifer is very sporty and big into baking. She’s a big reader too and her favourite author is John Green.

Her brother Jamiu, aged 13. Jamiu mightn’t be the best choice for a quiz partner, as he is prone to forgetfulness. Mostly it’s just getting locked outside his house when he always forgets his keys, so he’s hoping that he doesn’t forget all his general knowledge on the show!

Also hoping to climb up the prize ladder in the show is 10 year old Aoife Murphy from Freshford, Co. Kilkenny. Aoife goes to St. Lachtains NS in Freshford and like everyone in Kilkenny, she’s hurling mad. She also plays Gaelic football and will be starting basketball this year. Her team is:

Her mum, Paula Murphy. Paula is a massive Bruce Spingsteen fan. She has seen him live twice in Dublin and also when he performed in Kilkenny. So any questions on “The Boss” would be right up her street. She’s also good on geography, celebrity gossip and, you’ve guessed it, hurling.

Her aunt Sheila Killeen, who works in a bank. She has gone to almost every Kilkenny hurling match that has been played since she was a little girl and Aoife reckons that she is Kilkenny’s biggest fan. Oh, and her favourite TV show? The Sunday Game….

Her cousin Paddy Killeen, aged 16. Paddy loves his hurling also, and has two false front teeth to prove it! Apart from sports, Paddy helps around the farm, so any questions on agriculture or nature would suit him down to the ground.

Last but not least, is another cousin Declan Killeen, aged 13. Again, hurling and farming are a big part of his life, but he also loves darts. He like movies, especially James Bond. So sports and film would be his strong subjects.

Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?

“I’ve Got Your Back”, Thursday, 5th May at 5pm on RTÉ 2.
