The restaurant doors are finally ready to open this Thursday, 21 April for the start of the brand new series of First Dates Ireland on RTÉ2.

Maître d’ Mateo Sania and his team; barman Ethan Miles and waitress Alice Carr, are ready and waiting to welcome singletons from all over the country to the First Dates restaurant in the hope of finding love.

The six-part series will feature over 150 hopeful couples, aged between 18 and 75, as they lay it all on the line in the hope of discovering romance.  In episode one South African model Federica catches Donegal accountant Lee off-guard.  Waiter Simon dines out with his bald and bearded doppelänger Tynan while James and Amy Lee get off to a ‘super’ start.

Speaking about the launch of the new series Bill Malone, Channel Controller RTÉ2 said; “I’m delighted to bring First Dates Ireland to Irish viewers.  The series has been a major hit internationally and what we’ve done is taken this winning format and added our natural humour, honesty and Irish wit.  First Dates Ireland is all about real people, real drama, and I think you will find that it also has real heart, and is a perfect fit for RTÉ2”.

Also speaking about the launch Linda Cullen, Head of Television with COCO Television said; “We are thrilled to be involved in the making of First Dates Ireland.  It is such a sweet and entertaining series.  We really enjoyed meeting all the daters and playing matchmaker for them. The programme is all about love and that has been uppermost in our minds throughout the production process – we really want to give love the best possible chance to bloom.”
