Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016 on RTÉ Young People’s Programmes

Swipe TV – Mon, Wed, Fri at 4.30 pm on RTÉ2

Swipe TV is going all out for Seachtain na Gaeilge! There will be all sorts of mayhem in the studio for “Who Rules the School” with some very gungy, wholly-Irish studio games.

Seo Linn are in studio with Simon and Claire to talk about all the Seachtain na Gaeilge events taking place. There is a special performance from the amazing The Hut Youth Crew with their rap “Is maith liom é” on Friday.

Also, Mebs heads to the Leprechaun Museum to learn how to be a leprechaun for a day.

And the Q Crew are busy answering all the nation’s burning questions. This week they discover the origins of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and where the Irish flag, the Tricolour, came from.

Two Tube – Mon-Fri at 5.30, 6.00 and 6.30 pm on RTÉ2

If you’re looking for a guide to what the Irish is for the newer words in our vocabulary, Two Tube is the place for you, with Bláthnaid Treacy providing a translation for everything from hashtag to hipster!

Two Tube will also feature a series of great interviews during Seachtain na Gaeilge, with pieces by Fair City’s Daithi MacSuibhne (who plays Emmet O’Brien in the soap) and RTÉ 2fm’s Chris Greene on their relationship with the Irish language and on how the language is there for everyone.

And on St. Patrick’s Day, the whole Two Tube team are heading to Ardgillan Castle in north County Dublin for a special show celebrating ‘Ravelóid’, an Irish-language summer music festival like we’ve never seen before. There will be music and chat from the likes of Mundy and the Hothouse Flowers, who will both be performing at ‘Ravelóid’, as well as an interview with Eoghan MacDermott who will be giving the lowdown on the festival. And if that isn’t enough, Two Tube has 3 pairs of tickets to ‘Ravelóid’ to give away too!
