Episode Five

Frances and May are being terrorised at Aunt Nellie’s by Detective Coleman from the Castle who suspects May’s role in the leaking of documents.

In a cell at Kilmainham, Peggy cannot bring herself to forgive Jimmy for his role in her son Peter’s death. She’s also guilt ridden for persuading Arthur not to desert, as he has subsequently been sent to the Western Front without seeing his only son buried.

Ingrid escorts the wounded James Connolly through the back gates of Kilmainham Jail, into Stonebreakers yard where Connolly is tied to a chair before being executed.

Edward attempts to secure the release of his daughter Elizabeth from prison but his former influence has evaporated under the new regime and he’s powerless.
