Today, Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair 2015 will be launched with brilliant live music in studio from some of those who will be taking part in this year’s festival, including singer Gráinne Holland, fiddler Séamus McGuire from the band Buttons & Bows, and music group An Crann Óg from Gaoth Dobhair.

The second Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair takes place this year from 27 December to 1 January, and replaces Scoil Gheimhridh Frankie Kennedy which came to an end in 2013 after 20 years.  The festival will feature sessions, classes, concerts and more, and other musicians taking part will include Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney, Trevor Hutchinson, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Máirtín O’Connor Trio, Luke Cheevers, Dónal McCague and Seán McElwain, to name just a few.  On the show today, we’ll get a taste of what’s in store for those attending this year’s festival.  Tomorrow night, many of these musicians will also be live on stage in Hiúdaí Beag’s in Gaoth Dobhair for the Cabaret Craiceáilte.
