In the first of two programmes celebrating the 150th anniversary of Jean Sibelius's birth, the pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy and Professor Daniel Grimley scholar of Scandinavian music, take us on a tour of the composers' strikingly diverse legacy. The journey combines the familiar highways of his symphonies and tone poems with the rarely travelled byways of his music for stage plays and songs. The presenter is Jon Tolansky.
