RTÉ Launches Commissioning Round for Independently Produced Radio Programmes in 2016

RTÉ will tomorrow call out for independent radio producers to apply for commissions for programmes to air across RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ Raidio na Gaeltachta during 2016.

The launch will take place in RTÉ tomorrow, Thursday 19 November, at 10am, and is expected to be attended by some of the country’s top independent production companies and radio producers.

RTÉ’s Head of Independent Radio Production (IRP), Ann-Marie Power, will present 15 commission briefs at the event: seven for RTÉ Radio 1, two for RTÉ 2fm, two for RTÉ lyric fm, and four for RTÉ Raidio na Gaeltachta.

RTÉ is seeking to commission radio programmes spanning live talk shows, entertainment, Irish language, arts, comedy and beyond. Detailed briefs can be seen at www.rte.ie/irp

Ann-Marie Power says: “This annual fund is a great way for RTÉ to engage with the independent radio production sector in Ireland.  We have put out a variety of interesting commissioning briefs to populate our schedules in 2016 and we’re hoping great programmes will come of these and see a new generation of talent developed; moments of radio gold all while creating employment and opportunities within the independent media production industry.”

Submissions will be accepted from 10am on Thursday 19 November until the deadline of 2.30pm on Tuesday 22 December.
