The Taste of Success returns to RTÉ One with contestants from all over Ireland competing for a prize worth €100,000 and the thrill of having their unique food product on the shelves of more than 140 Lidl Ireland stores nationwide.
This year presenter Dáithí Ó Sé has travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of the next winner of The Taste of Success. He has been ably abetted by a stellar line up of TV culinary talent to judge, help and mentor the contestants as they hone their vision for their product and bring it to the plate.
With last year’s winning product – Limerick man Padraig McCarthy’s beef short ribs – still flying off shelves, the stakes are high.
Last year’s winning mentor Fishy Fishy’s Martin Shanahan is in Munster fighting to keep hold of his crown, Italian food expert Catherine Fulvio is in charge of Leinster while Irish Times writer Domini Kemp takes care of Dublin. New to the screen this year is Michelin-starred restaurateur, chef and author JP McMahon heading up Connaught/Ulster.
From foraged wild garlic bread to seaweed ravioli; Christmas pudding ice-cream to Jamaican soup, all these tantalising products will be featured in regional road shows throughout Ireland.
But it’s the people behind the products that viewers will get to know as they begin a gruelling journey towards impressing the Lidl judges and, ultimately, victory.
With a prize worth €100,000, sponsored by Lidl Ireland, the competition is as fierce as ever with highs and lows as contestants go head-to-head for this life-changing opportunity, not to mention the thrill of seeing their product on sale to the public.
