Initially it almost bankrupted the Disney studios, but went on to be recognised as a great piece of animation, and one of the most stunning uses of classical music onscreen: Fantasia (1940) is the subject of this week’s Great Moments in Classical Music. Its talented production team included the distinguished conductor Leopold Stokowski, gifted animators Joe Grant, Fred Moore and “Norm” Ferguson, revolutionary audio designer William E.
