In A World of Song, Liz Nolan celebrates the wealth of Western vocal music with a focus tonight on Philippe Jaroussky. The great French countertenor returns to the Liceu after his debut in 2011-12 season, accompanied by the Venice Baroque Orchestra conducted by Andrea Marcon. In this unique concert Philippe Jaroussky sings virtuoso arias by composers from the mid-eighteenth century such as Nicolo Porpora, Leonardo Leo and Giuseppe Sarti, following the path of the most celebrated Italian castrato singers of that time. Philippe Jaroussky has a wonderful voice and great ease with coloratura, and has become one of the most fashionable countertenors at the moment.
