Episode 7

Emmett’s friend Dean is coming to stay for a few days on his way to Whistler for a ski trip. The lads have some alone time without the girls but it’s not long until they are brought up in discussion.

Hipsterverse is in full swing, and Dylan has found his stride.

George is feeling the strain of producing a big musical, as the anxiety sets in.

Dean fits right in with the housemates, but it’s India and Dean who have really clicked over their long chats about music. She has written lots of songs in Vancouver but is struggling with the style and arrangements.

Dean is a rising star in the field of composing and songwriting, he has worked with bands like Snow Patrol and worked with a team to create music in films such as The Hobbit and Despicable me. He has offered to help India with her music.

George still needs to raise the deposit for the theatre, so he hits the streets of Vancouver to busk. After a good day on the streets, he wants to keep it going into the night. After making peace with George the girls want to support him and help sell tickets. Their last stop of the evening is the open mic night at pub340.

George makes such a good impression,  he is invited to sing at Vancouver’s greatest annual sporting event, The Grey Cup final.

Hipsterverse needs a boost so Dylan has got some help from his movie star brother, Stuart Townsend and calls in Hollywood actress Aisha Tyler (Friends, CSI and 24) to direct and give the series some sparkle.

With Aisha in the director’s seat, Dylan decides he wants in on the acting.

India and Dean have worked so hard, they aim to get into the studio and record a single before Dean leaves Vancouver.

Jade wants to have her own gallery so hits the streets to find a space that suits. She gets invited to 14W7 gallery for an opening and a chance to see what having her own collection on show would be like. Jade eventually books a gallery, now all she has to do is fill it.

The Grey Cup final is in full swing and George is preparing for his debut. He still needs to sell more tickets to cover costs, so his fellow exiles have come along to help him.

George chooses the song Danny boy to sing, which is close to his heart and reminds him of his hometown Derry. He isn’t the only one to be hit with emotion, as George sings his rendition Nicola starts to feel homesick and the tears start to flow.
