After overhearing his sister’s piano lessons, Mexican composer Manuel Ponce went straight to the piano and played her pieces by ear, without ever having had a lesson himself. His parents sent the musical prodigy to a teacher of his own, and we’ll hear some of the music he wrote for the guitar on Sunday morning. We’ll also hear the story of Babar the Elephant with music by Francis Poulenc, beautifully read by Meryl Streep.
