Why have the music industry been behind the curve in adapting/catching up to advances in technology? In the 1980’s the slogan ‘home taping is killing music’ was much used to discourage people from crouching over their radios with a cassette player poised to press record the minute they heard the DJ playing their favourite records. They wanted us out there buying the records, not getting them for nothing. And people are still chasing free music because in their book “How Music Got Free” the authors examine how the record industry lost its way in the digital revolution. The battle between visionaries and criminals, moguls and tech-savvy teenagers continues.
