RTÉ Sport launches 2015 GAA Championship Multi-Platform Coverage Live on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Sport

 

 

New RTÉ panellist Henry Shefflin will be among Joanne Cantwell’s guests in Kilkenny alongside Liam Sheedy and Tomás Mulcahy as they look forward to a hugely anticipated summer of Hurling Championship action. In Tralee Marty Morrissey will be joined by Tomás Ó Sé, Kevin McStay and Pádraic Joyce to discuss the upcoming Football Championship as the Kingdom look to defend their title.

 

Meanwhile in Dublin Darren Frehill will anchor the show and will be joined by an array of guests including GAA President Aogan O Fearghail, Martin McHugh, Ciaran Whelan, Anthony Daly and John Mullane.

RTÉ2

RTÉ2 television will broadcast a comprehensive package of 31 live games in High Definition, across this summer’s GAA Championships including all six Provincial Finals, four All Ireland Senior quarter-finals plus All Ireland Senior semi-finals and finals in both Hurling and Football.

 

For GAA fans summer officially kicks off on Sunday 17th May as The Sunday Game Live comes from Ballybofey where Ulster champions Donegal face up to Tyrone in the Ulster Senior Football Championship.  Michael Lyster will be joined in Ballybofey by Colm O’Rourke, Joe Brolly and Pat Spillane for live coverage.

Now in its 37th year, Ireland’s premier GAA television programme, The Sunday Game, will also return on Sunday, May 17th with presenter Des Cahill in the chair. Des will be joined for highlights and analysis of the weekend’s Football action by Ciaran Whelan, Kevin McStay and Tomás Ó Sé.

 

Henry Shefflin makes his Sunday Game Live debut on Sunday 24 May from Semple Stadium, Thurles as Clare take on Limerick in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final. The Sunday Game will have highlights of up to 100 games throughout the season providing definitive analysis every single Sunday of the Championship summer. The Sunday Game Live fixtures are listed below.

 

 

RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2fm

RTÉ Radio 1 will this summer offer the very best action in hurling and football with a comprehensive range of commentary and analysis right through the GAA Championships. RTÉ Radio 1 will have exclusive national coverage of the top match on Saturday Sport and Sunday Sport. There will be full commentary on more than 30 matches across the Championship season as well as reports and updates from every other match.

The Radio 1 team of commentators will include Ger Canning, Darragh Maloney and Pauric Lodge as well as our GAA correspondents, Marty Morrissey and Brian Carthy. These will be joined in co-commentary and analysis from some of the biggest names in hurling and football of recent years.

In addition to all the live action, Brian Carthy’s magazine programme, The Championship, will return to RTÉ Radio 1 on Friday 15 May at 10.00pm.

RTÉ Radio 1 bulletins throughout the day on Morning Ireland, Today with Sean O’Rourke and Drivetime with Mary Wilson will also have all the breaking news and all the issues that matter to the fans who follow the Championship, with extensive analysis and debate featuring also on RTÉ 2fm’s daily sports programme, Game On.

 

 

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta

 

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will broadcast up to 40 football matches, and more than 20 hurling games, with live commentary, reporting and analysis across its sports programmes. RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta enjoys full broadcast rights for all matches in both the football and hurling championships

 

The summer schedule for the station will include 10 hours of sports programming each weekend.  Analysts will include players, former players, managers and former managers including Dara Ó Cinnéide, John Allen, Joe Connolly, Cathal Moore, Pat Fleury, Nicky Cashin, Jarlath Burns, Ger Brennan, Stephen Joyce, Charlie Vernon, Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, Máire Ní Bhraonáin and Robbie Ó Griffín.

 

The weekend sports schedule features Spórt an tSathairn at 2pm on Saturdays and Reacaireacht an Tráthnóna at 6.30pm for evening fixtures. On Sundays, Spórt an Lae is broadcast at 2pm, and a roundup of results can be heard in Spórt an Domhnaigh at 7 pm.

Across its digital platforms, RTÉ Sport will have coverage of every moment of the All-Ireland Football and Hurling Championships, with reporters at every single game in 2015 and live updates on every score via RTE.ie and the RTÉ News Now app.
