RTÉjr WINTER SONG

Following on from a public callout, 12 children from around the country were selected and brought to the studios to be filmed in our winter warming animated video that will broadcast throughout the Christmas schedule.

Twigín Christmas (22 – 28 December)

We have all the ingredients to make a very special Christmas on Twigín. The tree house will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland with lots of seasonal  fun.  We have a long list of fun lined up, we will be making yummy cookies to leave out for Santa, while decorating the Christmas tree the fairy goes missing and Muc has his first visit to Santa.  Muireann and Bláithín will be busy in the flower patch helping Santa and the elves wrap all the presents for Christmas.   Seamus is having a laugh writing the jokes for the Christmas crackers which he is super excited about but he’s a bit worried that he may not be on Santa’s good list and is busy trying to be as helpful as he can be to his pals Clara and Emma who will be singing, dancing and joining in all the fun!

Christmas Baubles (24 – 27 December)

16 x 2 mins on RTÉjr

Dive into the holiday spirit with RTÉjr viewers as they take us into their world of winter magic in Christmas Baubles. This series of sixteen two minute films dips into a range of activities which excite and delight children around the country in the run-up to the Christmas season. In every film we explore one family’s traditional winter adventure through the children – for example, Róisín and Clodagh are taken for a icy winter swim in Balscadden Bay by their Granny; the Flynn sisters in Wicklow convince their parents to take them ice-skating for the very first time; Alex and his family go to the forest in search of the perfect Christmas tree and Tommi from East Wall and his little sister are off on an adventure to find Rudolph and his fellow reindeer in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.

Christmas Baubles is a collection of beautiful short films exploring the excitement of winter and Christmas through the eyes of young children.

THE BEO SHOW VIRTUOSO Celebrations 10 x 7 starting 20 December for two weeks

Do you have a theatrical ambition? Well, if so, RTÉjr is the place for you! MADE WITH LOVE (20-23 December)

16 x 2’ films to say thank you this Christmas

This Christmas is all about giving on RTÉjr – gifts ‘made with love’ by you and delivered to someone who did something special. Carrie loves her Granddad because he makes her delicious mashed potato and collects her from school every day. She made him a very special golf-themed photo frame with a photo of her in it. Diego’s big sister makes him happy when he’s sad. To thank her, he cheers up her goldfish tank with origami sealife…and pirates.  Yasmin makes her brother a Manchester Utd. football-themed pillow case because he minds her in the school yard, and he reads her a story every night. Lucy’s Granny spends hours teaching her piano and baking cakes, so Lucy combines the two in a piano shaped cake she bakes to say thank you.

Sixteen small slices of love and feel-good this Christmas on RTÉjr, Made With Love is touching, funny and a celebration of the joy of giving and of saying thank you.

TELL ME A STORY  RTÉjr 22 December – 2 January

With stories in English, Irish, Hindi and Mandarin, the holiday season on Tell Me A Story will be teeming with all your favourite faces including Bryan Dobson and Ryan Tubridy reading stories by writers like David Maybury and Dee Roycroft. The Beo Show – RTÉjr

Guest musicians include:       Sharon Shannon, Tadhg Mac Dhonnagain, Gerry Paul, Nicola Geddes

This Christmas, Sharon Shannon is the Beo Theatre’s star guest. On Christmas Eve, Donie is getting excited and leaving food out for Santa. He’s hoping someone can set the right mood so Sharon and our young guest set about choosing the perfect Christmas song which they perform together. On Christmas Day, Donie and Gerty are excitedly opening their presents – but the radio is broken! Along comes Sharon who teaches her new Christmas song to today’s young performer and this is what they sing for Donie’s Christmas Concert! On St. Stephen’s Day, Donie and Gerty are feeling pretty sleepy after all the fun but this soon changes when The Wren Boys pay a visit to the theatre. The occasion takes wings when Sharon returns to perform her famous tune ‘Blackbird’ with another young guest performer.
