In Friday’s Callan’s Kicks finale, Taoiseach Enda addresses and depresses the nation, Christy Moore’s greatest hits, Ray D’Arcy and Rachel Allen return while DJ Carey and Seán Óg Ó Hailpín guest star in the Life and Death of a Hurler.
Callan’s Kicks finishes this season with its most ambitious sketch – encompassing the history of hurling in four minutes. With guest stars DJ Carey as a guardian angel and Seán Óg Ó Hailpín as Mr Motivator, the Life and Death of a Hurler captures the hopes, disappointments, dreams, disillusionments and glories of the greatest game. Callan’s Kicks charts one hurler’s life from the cradle to the grave with a warts and all perspective on local GAA. It coincides with another epic weekend in the Championship as Cork and Tipperary prepare for battle in the All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park on Sunday. The final episode of hit new series Callan’s Kicks concludes with a final address from Taoiseach Enda, another cooking lesson with Rachel Allen and a fond farewell from Dobbo himself.
Series Overview:
Following the success of his New Year’s Eve special, Oliver Callan and his gang are back for a full series of Callan’s Kicks.
The six-part weekly comedy sketch show will chart the events of the moment through mimicry and satire aimed at a broad audience, sending up Ireland’s world of celebrity, media culture, sports stars and politicians. The new comedy series is the TV companion for Callan’s Kicks; the RTÉ Radio One satire borne out of the PPI award-winning Nob Nation show, starring impressionist Oliver Callan.
Callan’s highly topical brand of parody has been a feature of RTÉ Radio One for three years with an experienced team of writers and other talented impressionists alongside him.
The final episode airs on Friday, 15th August at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
