Documentary On One – Eight Days in November

In November 2002 the town of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford was hit by a spate of suicides after a succession of men jumped into the River Slaney.
In total, eight people went into the river over the course of a week. Five drowned and three were saved. Three of the men died in the same weekend, entering the river within a hundred feet of each other. The deaths sparked the biggest search and rescue operation ever mounted in the area, led by a small volunteer search group based in the town.
This documentary tells the story of that tragic eight-day period – and explores the revived push to combat suicide across Wexford in 2014.
We hear from the families of the men who died in 2002 and the volunteers who helped retrieve their bodies.
